You are Invited to Attend the CWRA Spring Meeting

Join us for the CWRA Spring Meeting on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Heritage Village Conference Center in Southbury, CT! This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow wildlife rehabilitators, learn from expert-led lectures and hands-on labs, and expand your skills to better help Connecticut’s wildlife and beyond.

  • Wildlife Antibiotics Across Species: Explore new research on antibiotic use in captive and wild animals. (La'Toya Latney, DVM, Animal Medical Center, NYC)
  • Pain Management in Wildlife This talk will cover assessment, management, complications and case studies along with reference materials for vets (Becca Reader, DVM, Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine)
  • Wound Healing and Stabilization in Reptiles- This talk will cover how to qualify, stabilize and manage commonly seen wounds and review the stages of wound healing. (La'Toya Latney, DVM, Animal Medical Center, NYC)
  • Wildlife in Your Hands: Physical Exam & LabLearn how to assess the health of birds, mammals, and reptiles and then practice hands-on physical exam techniques. (Sherry Harmon, Nutmeg Acres Wildlife, CWRA)
  • New DEEP Permit Requirements and HPAI Update: This Q&A will briefly cover key aspects of what you need to know. Bring your questions! (Laurie Fortin, DEEP)
  • Medicine, Math and Me: Master the basics of medical math to confidently calculate and administer medications. (Judy Pasko, Cummington Wildlife)
  • The Wild Room: Learn how to set up an efficient rehab space with species-specific considerations and practical tips. (Barbara Bellons-Picon, Squirrel Sanctuary, NY)
  • Scurius Curious: Take a look at rare conditions in squirrel rehabilitation, from malocclusion to microphthalmia. (Barbara Bellons-Picon, Squirrel Sanctuary, NY)
  • Reuniting Baby Birds: Learn how to guide the public on the myriad of displaced baby bird calls, and distinguish reuniting cases from necessary intakes. (Judy Pasko, Cummington Wildlife)
  • Fundraising Tips and Tricks: Come learn a variety of fundraising strategies that really work! (Arianna Mouradjian, Wildlife Rehabilitators Assoc. of Rhode Island and CWRA)
  • Rabies Vector Species Certification Class – This is the required training for those certified rehabilitators wishing to rehab RVS. (Laurie Fortin, DEEP & Laura Simon, CWRA)
  • Mentor Discussion Group: Help us build a better mentor network: discuss strategies for training and overseeing apprentices and help you overcome any obstacles.

💰 Day Of / Walk-In Registration (No Meals Available):

$65 for non-members (which will include your 2025 CWRA membership)

$30 for current CWRA members

Please note that all ticket sales for the Spring Meeting are final. Refunds cannot be issued, as the ticket price contributes directly to covering event-related expenses. Thank you for your understanding and support.


🥗 Lunch Options & Venue Policy

For your convenience, the Heritage Village Conference Center is offering a pre-purchased box lunch at a nominal fee. While there are a few local restaurants nearby, we strongly encourage choosing the box lunch to ensure a smooth and timely lunch break. Since we will be running on a tight schedule, we strongly encourage you to grab the lunch box option - we don't want you to miss anything!

🍃 Vegan Option: Vegetable grain bowl with mixed greens, barley, chickpeas, carrots, cucumbers, roasted sweet potatoes, and tasty dressing
🥪 Caprese Sandwich: Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, arugula, basil, and a balsamic glaze
🥔 Both options include: House-made assorted chips & water

Morning coffee/tea & light refreshments will be provided, along with afternoon snacks.
⚠️ Please note: The conference center does not allow outside food, so choosing the box lunch is the best option for convenience and compliance.
